Jamaica is home to some of the world’s most amazing underwater sights.
The opportunity to go scuba diving or snorkelling is endless. Most resorts and hotels have their own snorkelling and scuba diving facilities as well as guided tours (the hotel-guided tours are often included in vacation packages). But you do have the ability to go privately guided tours that will cost you a lot more.
Some of these amazing underwater sites include:
Sharks reef: the name tells it all, this reef located in Negril and is home to many Nurse Shark.
The Throne Room: located in Negril this amazing 40 foot wide cavern is lined with beautiful brightly coloured sea sponges, you may often see Sea Turtles and the occasional Dolphin. The Throne Room is great for underwater exploration because it has so many caves.
Widowmaker’s Cave: Located in Montego Bay, and is probably the most popular dive site. Widowmaker’s cave is 80 feet below the surface and have deep winding caves and tunnels.
Man Made Sunken ship: Located in Ocho Rio, this sunken ship was created to provide the sea life with an artifical reef and is a great site to explore, plus many barracuda have been spotted there.
